Contractor's College Construction Business Management Training Program
Designed to help small and emerging construction and professional services firms compete in the highly-competitive construction industry, Contractor's College teaches participants how to improve their businesses in the four main areas of consideration of project owners, prime contractors, contracting and procurement officers, banks, insurance and surety companies:
Credibility, Capacity, Capital and Credit.
Contractor's College is rooted in Start Smart's proprietary E.M.T.A.C. Training Model. E.M.T.A.C.- Education, Management, Technical Assistance and Capital- is a holistic approach to training that provides program participants the maximum practical opportunity to succeed.
Education: Our courses are developed and taught by subject matter experts.
Management and Technical Assistance: Participants complete a Small Business Needs Assessment to help determine the management and technical assistance needs of the owner and business. Participants also complete a Surety Bonding Assessment to determine the capital and credit required to secure a surety bond.
Capital: We partner with surety bond producers, Community Development Financial Institutions and banks to help program participants gain greater access to the credit, capital and the bonding they need to grow.
Government, corporate and non-profit organizations have hired our team to conduct Contractor's College workshops across the USA.
“This new Contractor’s College is another step in our continuing effort to strengthen the local pool of qualified small businesses and to help small business owners achieve success.” Former Mayor Melvin "Kip" Holden City-Parish of Baton Rouge
