Contractor’s College Courses 

 

Introduction and Course Overview- Introduction of the College sponsor, instructors, course outline and objectives of the training program.  Estimated length- 30 minutes.

 

Introduction to State Licensing Requirements- This is a brief overview state contractor licensing requirements, processes and fees.  Estimated course length- 1 hour.

 

Business Planning- A business plan is the starting point of business success. This course is designed to teach the purpose and components of a business plan, and how to develop a winning business plan. Estimated course length- 1.5 hours.

 

Building Your Business and Personal Credit- This course is designed to educate the participant on how to improve personal credit scores and build a business credit profile to increase their company’s borrowing and bonding capacity.  Estimated course length- 2 hours.

 

Accessing Capital for Growth- This course is designed to introduce the participant to alternative and creating financing techniques and small business loan programs that can help finance expansion. Estimated course length- 1 hours.

 

Insurance, Bonding and Risk Management for Contractors-  This course is designed to provide the participant basic understanding of insurance bonding.  It includes lessons on basic insurance coverage’s including General Liability, Worker’s Compensation and Builders Risk Insurance.  Estimated course length 3 hour.

 

Business Certifications and Incentives- This course is designed to provide the participant an overview of local, state and national business certifications and tax incentive programs that are available to help small firms more effectively compete for contracts. This course is designed to teach the participant how to use local, state and federal business and tax incentives to save money for their businesses and for their clients. Estimated course length 1 hours.

 

Responding to RFPs- Managing the bid process can be complex and challenging.  This course is designed to show the participant how to identify the right opportunities, make the all important “bid/no bid” decision, develop a RFP team to manage bids and timelines and develop proposals to win contracts. Estimated course length- 1 hours.

 

Fundamentals of Construction Project Management- This course is designed to teach the participant basic skills to help the interpret standard contract provisions,  understand “critical path” basics and how to manage schedules and timelines. Estimated course length- 2 hours.

 

State Contractor’s Law Exam Review- Estimated course length- 2hours.
